Waxing is one form of epilation, which is a process of pulling hair out by the root. It is a good way to remove unwanted hair for men and women. Warm wax is applied section-by-section to relevant areas of the body then a cotton strip is applied over the area to be waxed.
Next the strip is quickly pulled off taking the hair with it. Removing hair with wax is extremely effective. It pulls out large sections of hair at a time, leaving behind velvety-smooth skin.
Your first waxing
Waxing can irritate sensitive skin and should not be used on skin that is chapped, sunburned, or otherwise weakened. If you have never waxed before or if it has been a while since your last waxing visit you may experience a rash or bumpiness.
For most people this subsides with in a couple days. Also, because your hair grows in three cycles your skin may not feel totally smooth after your first waxing.
You may feel the next set of hair re-growth. After a couple of regularly scheduled waxings this will diminish. Your hair will then begin to grow in at the same rate and will feel softer.
Waxing regularly will give you the best results. Every two to eight weeks is recommended depending how fast your hair grows. In order for waxing to work, hair must be at least ¼ inch long.
If you are planning a special event we suggest that you experience at least two waxings to ensure the best results. Do not wax any area if you are currently or have within the last six months taken Accutane or are using Retin A. Glycolic acid, salicylic acid or any other preparation designed to peel the skin must be discontinued for at least 3-5 days prior to any waxing.
